The game needs rules or laws and if more players knew more about the 17 Laws of football, the game would be more enjoyable and there would be less questioning of decisions.
Young players should learn to respect the referee’s decision because, after all, the man in the middle is the expert on the Laws and his opinion is final.
Referees are human and he or she will make mistakes but players must give respect to them and the job that they do. Without them the game could not be played. Adults on the touch lines also have a part to play.
The example they set is so important in shaping the behaviour of our young players.
I hope that young players will enjoy answering the questions on the Laws of the Game and perhaps from amongst them there will be some top referees of the future.”
